Dirk Briese

Managing Director at wind:research

Mr. Dirk Briese holds a masters degree in Business Administration and a bachelor in Political Science and English from the University of Tübingen. He is the managing director of trend:research since 2001.

Previously, he conducted market research, consulting and M&A projects as the Head of the Department for Acquisitions and Development at the major utility swb AG Bremen for over four years. Prior to this he worked for several years in a market research and consulting company in the energy and environmental technology industry.

In all these activities Mr. Briese directed several, particularly strategic projects. At wind:research he is responsible for the corporate development and the compilation and realisation of exclusive studies and selected surveys, e.g. in the field of on- and offshore wind energy

Mr. Briese is an author of numerous publications in the energy industry and regional contributor for international magazines. The articles are published e.g. in Handelsblatt, Süddeutsche Zeitung and in further magazines and papers. Moreover, Mr.Briese is a demandend expert for several tv-formates.

He was and is invited as a speaker and chair to national and international conferences in the field of energy production and generation (e.g.Power Gen, AWEA, Wind Energy Hamburg, EWEA Offshore, Windforce and several international conferences).

In addition to this, Mr. Briese is speaker of the working group “Market and Logistics” of the WAB e.V. and curator of the German Offshore Foundation. Mr. Briese is also member in the federal expert commissions for energy policy and energy efficiency and heads the commission for energy in the economic council of the federal state of Bremen.
